At Jacobs Home Watch LLC, we serve as your trusted, fully insured, and local suburban North Shore of Chicago partner by regularly checking on your home and its systems while you are away. We ensure that systems are maintained, catastrophes are avoided or mitigated, third party services are operating as intended, improvement projects are handled and are properly supervised, and that your home is in great shape for you upon your return!
Services
Snowbirds, multi-property or absentee owners, and road warriors need peace of mind while they are away from their properties for extended periods of time. We provide that comfort by ensuring that systems within properties are utilized, problems are either avoided or addressed timely, and that properties continue to have the look and feel that they are occupied. In addition to being the local emergency contact, we visit properties and perform the following services on a regular, recurring basis:
Interior

Walkthrough to look for damage, theft/vandalism, infestation, and other obvious issues

Ensure that all windows and doors are secured and that there are no signs of forced entrance or damage

Run sinks/faucets/baths

Flush toilets and ensure that rings do not appear from stale toilet water

Check appliances and maintain proper house temperature and humidity

Change dirty filters

Observe for obvious visual signs of mold and water damage in basement and main living floors

Ensure that light bulbs are not burnt out

Water plants/flowers

Keyholder service
Exterior

Walkthrough to look for damage, theft/vandalism, infestation, and other obvious issues

Ensure that exterior lighting is working properly

Remove newspapers, flyers, phonebooks, mail and packages to maintain a “lived in” look

Ensure that other service providers such as landscapers and snow plows are performing their services via visual inspection

Visual inspection of swimming pool/tennis court/other external structures for obvious visual signs of damage

ABOUT
Julie Jacobs grew up in Highland Park before earning a bachelor's degree at Indiana University in special education. Julie and her husband Barry (also a native Highland Parker) moved back to Highland Park in 2013 to start a family. After informally performing house watching services for several seasons, Julie decided to launch Jacobs Home Watch LLC in 2022 and is actively looking to build a client base focused in Highland Park and the surrounding suburbs.
